Weight Loss Tips for Women Over 40
Weight loss is still a mystery to most people. It often like a hit and miss, guessing game about which diet will work for you and why. Should you try the cinnamon water? Maybe lemon will help? The truth is that metabolism depends on a number of factors, not just what you eat or how much you workout. I thoroughly loved writing the One Minute Metabolism because it gave me the opportunity to share these four simple keys with you in a way that is easy to understand and implement in your life.
When i began researching natural weight loss methods and metabolism, I was surprised to find that metabolism does not only refer to weight loss. Metabolism is not just how much energy we burn or how much fat we lose. Metabolism is actually the sum totally of all the chemical reactions within the body. It is the very best indicator of overall health that we have because a fast metabolism means you are replacing cells quickly and producing the necessary ingredients for your body quickly. A slow metabolism, on the other hand often indicates you are not in the best of health. Your body is making cells slowly, using energy slowly and most likely not producing the chemicals you need to stay healthy.
Knowing how important metabolism really is, I began to try to understand the factors that affect metabolism – other than food and exercise. The good news is that your body was built to have a maximized metabolism. If we support the body it will automatically move to a healthier state and lose more weight. Unfortunately, we don’t always know that our body needs support or how to support it. But once I began researching the topic, I realized how easy it is to recognize symptoms and to add the things that support the body.
Weight Loss Tips for Women Over 40 – 4 keys to metabolism
There are a number of things that could cause metabolism to slow down. You may have heard of some of the elements that affect metabolism. These things include:
- Leptin Resistance
- Insulin Imbalance or resistance
To heave a healthy metabolism, all the above keys needs to be working at the optimal level. It may sound complicated but our bodies actually come with “hazard lights” almost like our cars and once you know which “hazard lights” to look for, then your metabolism will no longer be a mystery and your weight loss will no longer be a guessing game.
Of course there are no red blinking lights on our bodies, but there are symptoms that tell us exactly what is wrong with the body. These symptoms are the equivalent of those hazard lights. When we start to experience symptoms our hazard lights – like the oil light on car – are literally telling us to change something.
The symptoms we experience literally tell us what is wrong with the metabolism and once you know how to recognize the symptoms, you can fix the metabolism. This is personally, the simplest way to lose weight consistently. When you hit a plateau, you can use the symptoms to figure out why the body has stopped losing weight and address those symptoms the way you’d add oil to your car.
The one Minute Metabolism lists the four keys to metabolism and how to look for the symptoms that apply to those keys. These symptoms also explain why cinnamon works for some people and not for others and why things like lemon work for other people. They are addressing different symptoms and therefore having different effects on those people.

Let’s take dehydration one since we all know about hydration and how important water is in the diet. Water is important because it flushes toxins from the body, it hydrates the cells and almost every chemical reaction in the body uses water as one of the ingredients. So a lack of water obviously slows down the metabolism because the body doesn’t have the raw materials it needs to make new cells, new hormones etc.
Here are a list of symptoms you can look for to see if you are dehydrated – taken from the One Minute Metabolism. If you suffer from two or more of the following symptoms, then you most likely suffer from dehydration :
- Constant thirst
- Stomach Cramps
- Dry skin
- Dry/Chapped lips
- Kidney pain
- Dark colored urine
Once you have a list of symptoms, it is easy to fix the problem of hydration to get the metabolism going again. The obvious answer is to fix the problem is to drink more water. You can also add hydrating foods to your diet to improve the hydration within the body. Foods that help keep the body hydrated include:
